A LITTLE CARE GOES A LONG WAY

Kindness first.
Safety always.

We want every exchange to feel good—for the person giving, the person receiving, and everyone in between. Here are a few simple ways we can look out for each other.

We’re neighbors here. Let’s treat each other that way.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU CONNECT

A few neighborly guidelines.

Keep it public at first

Arrange the first details in GiveDots messages. Share your phone number, home address, or other personal details only if and when you feel comfortable.

Choose a comfortable pickup

Meet in a familiar public place when possible, or have someone with you for a home pickup. Daylight and a clear plan make exchanges easier for everyone.

Trust your instincts

You can change your mind, pause a conversation, or cancel a request. You never owe anyone an explanation for protecting your comfort.

Be clear and thoughtful

Describe items honestly, agree on a pickup time, and let the other person know if plans change. A quick message can save a lot of uncertainty.

Free means free

Items on GiveDots are gifts, not listings for sale. Don’t ask for money, deposits, payment details, or anything in exchange.

Look out for warning signs

Be cautious of requests for payment, verification codes, links to unfamiliar sites, or pressure to move a conversation off the platform.

SOMETHING DOESN’T FEEL RIGHT?

It’s okay to step away.

Stop replying if someone makes you uncomfortable. Don’t click suspicious links or share verification codes. Keep a note of what happened, and reach out to someone you trust.

If a conversation or listing seems unsafe or misleading, please contact the community team so we can review it. If there’s immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
